On October 12^th, 2023, the new Commissioner of Transportation in Lagos State, Mr Osiyemi paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Waterways Authority LASWA.

During the visit, the Commissioner expressed his appreciation for LASWA's efforts to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance water transportation in Lagos.

The General Manager highlighted the various initiatives implemented by LASWA such as the introduction of modern ferries, the expansion of terminal facilities, and the promotion of safety measures.

Both parties exchanged ideas on ways to further improve water transportation, and infrastructures, boost passenger confidence, and encourage more residents to utilize the waterways as an alternative mode of travel. We also discussed upcoming projects including the development of new routes and the integration of technology for better efficiency and convenience.

The fruitful discussions concluded with a shared vision of a more sustainable and resilient transportation system in Lagos where waterways play a prominent role.
